The market keeps pulling agent products toward three familiar shapes: chat wrappers around one model, visual flow builders that crack when work stops fitting a tree, and research frameworks dressed up as products. Useful, sometimes. Not infrastructure you'd put your team's recurring work on and trust to come back to in six months.
Agents have to be teammates, not tools. Named specialists with persistent identity and briefs that get more specific over time. And the pack doesn't sleep. Heartbeats run agents on goals that take weeks, working overnight and surfacing the moments where you're needed. You wake up to drafts to review, not chat history to scroll.
Memory is the difference between a tool and a colleague. Not just the last conversation, the last quarter: decisions, dead ends, edge cases. We built four memory layers because anything less collapses under real work. Procedural for habits, working for the current task, episodic for what happened when, durable for what stays true. Humans hold the gate. Three-tier approvals on anything that touches versioned artifacts. Tools earn trust through repeated approvals; nothing gets it by default. The pack does the volume work, you do the sign-off. That balance is what makes putting real work on the pack safe in the first place.
